Now that we’re getting a BIT closer to warmer weather in New York (although it doesn’t seem so), I thought it would be fun to share this bit of information for those who are looking for a place to start in the running world! If you’re in the 5 boroughs and you want to join a fun active community to jump-start your goals, keep reading!

New York Road Runners has partnered with community leaders and volunteers to bring you FREE weekly runs and walks in neighborhood parks all over New York City. Each run / walk will also get you steps closer to fun incentives like T-shirts, water bottles, free memberships and other cool prizes.

Bring a friend, bring the babies (strollers welcome), bring the dog (on a leash!), ALL are welcome! NYRR is currently running weekly open runs and walks in 16 parks all around the 5 boroughs (distances and days vary), some of the included parks are:

Inwood Hill Park – Saturdays @ 9am // 2.75 miles

Pelham Bay Park – Thursdays @ 7pm // 2.5 miles

Morningside Park – Saturdays @ 9am // 3 miles

Brooklyn Bridge Park – Tuesdays @ 7pm // 3.1 miles (5K)

If you’re just getting into fitness, or if you’re looking for a welcoming community – consider weekly runs in your area! It’s fun for all and what better price than free?

Like to volunteer? Consider NYRR Open runs as this wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and support of volunteers!
